MacBook Black Screen
Reasons:
Faulty components can lead to a black screen. For example, motherboard, IO board, graphic card, damaged LCD, loose cables, hard drive, operating system update, etc.
What we do:
If any of the components fail, our technician will first run a diagnostic test on the device using an external monitor. Normally the diagnostic test will take 1-3 days depending on the issue. However, it may take longer to find out the faulty parts since most likely we need to test all of the components. Once we have the diagnostic report, we will provide all the details and give you a quote for repair.

MacBook Screen Replacement/ Flickering
Reasons:
A flickering screen could be caused by both hardware and software. For example, hardware physical damage, screen connection, damaged LCD, incorrect screen settings, loose cables, damaged display driver, outdated operating system, etc.
What we do:
If any of the reasons causes a flickering screen, our technician will first run a diagnostic test on the device. We will start by examining the screen itself to see if there is any external crack or internal crack on the LCD panels. If not, we test the motherboard and other components to determine the issue. When it comes to screen problems, most of the time it can be fixed by replacing the LCD panel only. We are one of the few repair stores that offer to replace LCD panels. It is considered time-consuming work (2-3 days) but more affordable for our customers. Or, we offer a one-day service to replace the whole assembly if you are in a rush, which may be more costly. But do not worry, we will provide all the details and give you a quote/options for repair.

MacBook Cannot Reboot
Reasons:
Computer not booting up could be caused by both hardware and software. For example, motherboard issue, power supply failure, loose cables, battery issue, hard drive failure, full storage, operating system failure, virus, etc.
What we do:
If any of the reasons cause your computer not to boot up, our technician will first run a diagnostic test on the device. Normally the diagnostic test will take 1-3 days depending on the issue. However, it may take longer to find out the faulty parts if the problem is on the motherboard. Once we have the diagnostic report, we will provide all the details and give you a quote for repair.
Two common reasons we encounter these days and the solution we provide to our customers:
1. Storage full: Customers try to update the computer; however, it doesn't go through the booting process and is stuck on reboot. In this case, it means that the computer doesn't have enough space for updated system files and keeps trying to install itself. We help customers back up their files, update the operating system, and then restore their files back to the computer. The whole process may take hours to days depending on the speed and how many files are on your computer.
2. Corrupted or missing system files: There are corrupted or missing files on a customer's computer, possibly caused by a virus or malware. We help customers back up their files, perform a virus cleaning plus overall checkups, reinstall and/or update the operating system, and then restore their files back to the computer.

MacBook Running Slow
Reasons:
Computer running slow could be caused by both hardware and software. For example, full hard drive, corrupted hard drive, full RAM, hardware failure, overheating, outdated operating system, virus , software not compatible, etc.
What we do:
If any of the reasons causes the computer running slow, our technician will first run a diagnostic test on the device. Normally the diagnostic test will take 1-3 days depending on the issue. However, it may take longer to find out the faulty parts if the problem is on the motherboard. Once we have the diagnostic report, we will provide all the details and give you a quote for repair.

MacBook Overheating
Reasons:
Overheating could be caused by both hardware and software. For example, fan issue, old battery, multitasking, dusty, third-party charger, outdated operating system, virus , etc.
What we do:
If any of the reasons causes computer overheating, our technician will first run a diagnostic test on the device.
1. Fan issue. This is the most common reason when it comes to overheating. We help customers clean up the build-up of dust on the computer fan, and then reapply thermal paste. 80% of the chance the problem gets solved. If not, the fan may need to be replaced.
2. Battery issue. Another common reason to have a laptop overheat is having a defective/ old/ damaged battery. Sometimes we even handle a swollen battery that starts bending the motherboard. So, when laptops overheat because of the battery, we recommend replacing them for customers' safety and better performance on their laptops. It only takes one-hour maximum to replace the battery for all MacBooks.

MacBook Keyboard Not Working
Reasons:
Keyboard issues could be caused by both hardware and software. For example, dusty, settings, newly installed apps, water damage, loose cables, short circuit, broken hardware, outdated operating system, virus, etc.
What we do:
If any of the reasons causes computer keyboard not working, our technician will first run a diagnostic test on the device.
1. Water damage. This is one of the most common reasons when it comes to keyboard issues. When liquid is spilled on the keyboard, it may have slipped in under the keys and reached the motherboard. You may feel the keys/ trackpad are sticky or not responding. In this case, we first disassemble and clean up the keyboard, trackpad ,and motherboard. It may take more time if corrosion is spotted on the board. 80% of the chance the keyboard issue can be fixed by cleaning and repairing the board. If not, we help customers replace the keyboard or trackpad.
2. Motherboard issue. Another common reason for a keyboard issue is having some faulty components on the motherboard. In this case, we will test and inspect all of the components that are connected to the board. For example, it could be loose cables, broken connectors ,or short circuits on the board. It may take longer (3-4 days) for us to examine the board, but do not worry, we will provide all the details and give you a quote or options for repair.

What Our Clients Say
Rachel Tan
I've been to BC Computers for a few of my Macbook repairs. They've been able to assist/troubleshoot for me each time. The most latest repair service I received was quite lengthy and complicated, but it was executed with professionalism, patience, understanding and clear communication
